About KMW Learning Academy

The creation of the KMW Learning Academy enables us to build a pipeline of diverse employees, meeting the demand for skilled workers while equipping them with needed skills and knowledge for success on the job and advances in career development. Our apprenticeships create an "earn while you learn” career pathway, allowing workers to grow skills, advance into higher-level jobs within KMW, and increase financial stability. This is a win-win for KMW and its team.
KMW is growing rapidly, which is a good challenge to have. It creates a culture of excitement while growing capabilities to higher levels. During On-the-Job Training (OJT), resident apprentices work in the plants and receive hands-on training from an assigned KMW mentor. While engaging in the work, the apprentice gains the skills and knowledge necessary to be proficient in the occupation they choose as their focus.
KMW’s Learning Academy Apprentice Program currently offers several courses: assembly, fabricator, dock worker, material coordinator/expeditor, and maintenance (all one-year programs) as well as a two-year welding program. There are currently 16 employees enrolled.
